As a person who’s ministry has become his job, it’s easy to overlook the importance of what we do. Sometimes we volunteer, serve, work in an area of ministry for so long that it becomes routine and can sometimes seem unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
As a lowly volunteer we can forget why we do what we do. I mean, we’re not the pastor or the worship leader. They’re super important and we just vacuum the floors of the auditorium or change the slides on Sundays or mow the grass. Does it really even matter that we stay late on Friday night and come in early Sunday sometimes even spending the day on Saturday at the church? It probably doesn’t make a bit of difference that we pour our heart and soul and precious time into a ministry that is never appreciated or even noticed sometimes. Maybe it’s not worth the sacrifices we make such as time with family and hobbies. I can think of a thousand other things I could be doing on a Friday night.
Well, the truth is that’s what our adversary would want us to think. There’s been quite a few times I’ve asked myself, is it worth it? It is worth it and I’ll tell you why.
1 Cor. 12:27 Together you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of that body.
I truly believe every position in the church is equally important to the rest as that’s what the Bible tells us 1 Cor. I encourage you to read chapter 12. Because of all the sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears that have been poured out at Crossroads, we’ve seen lives truly changed in a big way. God uses each one of us in different ways at different times to Glorify the “Body”. Even if our small parts go unappreciated, the Body of Christ is ultimately glorified and lives are touched.
Here’s a story of the Chilcote Family. I want to dedicate my small part of compiling this awesome story to all the “unseen”. I am so thankful for the people God has sent to this church and I could never express what an Honor it is to serve next to guys. Because of you, we have this…..
